Club History

Brighton spent most of their history in the lower divisions and were even homeless for a period in the 1990s, groundsharing with Gillingham 70 miles away. New ownership led by Tony Bloom — a professional gambler who built one of football’s most sophisticated data analysis operations — transformed the club. The Amex Stadium opened in 2011. Under Graham Potter and then Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton became renowned for playing some of the most attractive football in the league. De Zerbi left for Marseille in 2024, replaced by Fabian Hürzeler who has maintained the progressive approach.
