CURRENT MANAGER
Brighton spent most of their history in the lower divisions and were even homeless for a period in the 1990s, groundsharing with Gillingham 70 miles away. New ownership led by Tony Bloom — a professional gambler who built one of football’s most sophisticated data analysis operations — transformed the club. The Amex Stadium opened in 2011. Under Graham Potter and then Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton became renowned for playing some of the most attractive football in the league. De Zerbi left for Marseille in 2024, replaced by Fabian Hürzeler who has maintained the progressive approach.
The most data-driven club in English football — their analytical approach is industry-leading
Selling players at enormous profits — buying unpolished gems and developing them into stars
Playing genuinely attractive, progressive football regardless of the manager
The Amex Stadium — an impressive modern ground on the South Downs outside Brighton
Tony Bloom — the owner whose gambling analytics background has been applied to football
Brazilian forward who has been one of Brighton’s most important players — clinical, creative and excellent at linking play.
Japanese international who has made Brighton fans love him with his direct running, pace and skill. One of the most exciting wide players in the league.
The American Express Community Stadium (the Amex) sits on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Capacity 31,800. A beautiful modern stadium with striking architecture — arguably the most scenic in the Premier League given its hillside location.
No major trophies. Currently experiencing their best sustained period at the top level of English football.
Crystal Palace (A23 derby — fierce south-east rivalry), Southampton.
Final position: Around 7th-10th — European qualification possible
Brighton again competed for European places, consistent with their transformation into a top-half Premier League club under their innovative ownership.
